  1. I get a “Failed to download patch…” message when I run Ragnarok. How do I fix this?
  2. I experience Lag playing Ragnarok Online.
  3. There is no 3d card installed in my PC.  Can I still play Ragnarok?
  4. When I run Ragnarok, it seems like I am almost connected to the server then I suddenly get kicked out!
  5. When I try to execute the Chaos icon(shorcut for the Ragexe.exe file), I get a ‘Run Ragnarok.exe’ message.
  6. Everytime when I run the game, I get an error message and the game won’t start.
  7. I would like to know the minimum system requirements for Ragnarok.
  8. The background of the game is shown in all blurry white color only and I cannot see graphics either.
  9. When I connect to the game all I can see is a black screen.
  10. The background scenes come out as a purplish squares!
  11.  If  I rotate the camera or  load a new area in a certain screen,  the game gets crashed and automatically booted to the windows!

  18. Downloading large files.
1. I get a “Failed to download patch…” message when I run Ragnarok. How do I fix this?
  Your computer should have at least 2 Gig free space recommended during installation. Otherwise the patch may not work properly, please free up the necessary space.

For Home users who’ve never played Ragnarok Online before (including iRO):

You have two options:

  1. Take note of the failed patch in the pRO launch window.

  2. Locate the file in the RO subdirectory and delete it.

  3. Run the pRO client. It should patch normally.

    OR

    You can manually patch RO. Download the following files, and then move the downloaded files into the RO installation directory. Afterwards start RO normally.

    Please try one of these links to download the latest patches. One may be faster than another depending on your ISP or internet traffic. You only need to download one set of patches, NOT both. Both links contain the same patches.

    Patch Site 1- Downloadable via FTP client.

    Sakray Patch Site 1 – Downloadable via browser.

    It would be better if you use a download manager to download these files, so can pause and restart the file transfer as need be. (Thanks to antar for his help on this one)

    For Home users who have iRO installed:

    Uninstall both the iRO and the pRO game clients, then reinstall pRO. If you still have a problem, follow the instructions above.

    For cafe or networked users:

    Copy the patches from a working client on the network to the RO installation directory.
2. I experience Lag playing Ragnarok Online.

There are many factors that attributed lag when you play pRO. Below are few recommendations:

1. Choose an ISP that is PhIX member (Top rated by our users so far are: Infocom, PLDT DSL, Vibe and ISP Bonanza)
2. If you are using Dial-Up, connection speed should at least 28 Kbps, if not, reconnect until you achieve the speed.
3. Disable all P2P programs such as Kazza, Limewire, etc.
4. Avoid downloading files while playing.
5. Run pRO on minimal settings. (640x480x16 resolution, use 2D sound, Sound Frequency=8K, Sound Bits=8Bit, Sound channel=16 Channel, disable Use Lightmap, disable Fog, set the bar of the Sprite and Texture Details to the Left.
6. Unload unnecessary program files that are running on your system tray.
7. For Cafe players, lag will occur if other pcs sharing your internet connection are surfing, downloading or playing other online games. You might have to ask your Cafe to add or purchase more bandwidth or ask them to allocate only a few pc’s for downloading and surfing.
3. I do not have a DirectX,can I play Ragnarok?

  

The background of Ragnarok is all in 3D.   Therefore, if you do not have a 3D card, or if your 3D card cannot run the recent Direct X file, then you cannot play Ragnarok.
4. When I run Ragnarok, it seems like I am almost connected to the server then I get kicked out!

It seems like the user’s 3D card is not corresponding with the game, or the user’s Window registry is causing problems.  Please download  the newest driver for your 3d Card and check if your 3D card  corresponds with the game. If it is the problem with  Window registry, check your computer and see if you’re running any program that conflicts with Ragnarok online files.  
5. When I try to execute the Ragexe.exe file, I get ‘Run Ragnarok.exe’ message.

Ragnarok’s executable file is indicated by Keias’ face icon. If it’s your first time  playing the game, execute setup.exe before you  play the game. If it is your second time playing ragnarok, please execute the ragnarok.exe file.
6. When I run the game, I get an error message and the game will not start.

This happens when the user did not install the most recent version of Direct X or Direct X has not been installed properly on the computer.  It goes same for the error message consisted of ‘DINPUT8.DLL cannot be found in this machine’. Please reinstall Direct X.
7. I would like to know the minimum requirement for Ragnarok.

OS: windows95/98/ME/2000 CPU: Pentium II -400 or higher.

SOUND: Direct Sound Compatible/Support 3D sound Effects

Others: Direct X 8.0, wheel mouse compatible

Compatible VGA set:

         nVidia RIVA TNT series, GeForce 1,2 series.

         Matrox G200, G400 series

         3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 or above

         S3 Savage 3D, Savage 4, Savage 2000 compatible series

         ATI Radeon or above

Others VGA set:

         AGP 2x, VideoRam: 8mb or above, 3d accelerator compatible board
8. The ground shows white colors only.  I cannot see graphics well.

It happens when the graphic card cannot support a lightmap in Direct X. Please go to setup.exe and use lightmap on/off option.
9. The screen has turned black.  I can’t see any graphics.

If  your video card’s  memory capacity  is below  8MB, the  game cannot be run because of the lack of texture memory.  Please use an AGP type graphic card that has 8MB or above capacity.
10.  The background scenes come out as purplish squares!

A problem can happen among old versions of ATI graphic cards. Please go to setup.exe and use lightmap on/off option.
11.  I use a Voodoo as a 3d card.  On certain maps, if I rotate the camera or load to next screen, I get kick out to windows!

The older versions of the voodoo chipset do not support highly detailed textures. Please go to setup.exe’s voodoo3 on/off option. This option will eliminate vanishing polygons in the game.
12. I would like to get the recent driver for my 3d card!

There are many different type of graphic cards.  Please read the manual that came with your card.
13. I can’t run the game on a voodoo card.

It seems to be that it is not possible to play the game on older version of the Voodoo chipset.  Right now,  the compatibility tests with the older versions of the Voodoo chipset are not complete.
14.  If I turn off the sound, I can run the game.  If I turn on the sound, then I can’t run the game!

Unlike other company’s online MMORPG, ragnarok has twice the number  of  bg music in mp3 format.  But, if the computer’s CPU and the soundcard do not meet the requirement for the game,  then it is possible that the bgm might not be executed during the game.  If you have older computer, please turn off the sound, or set to the minimal option (2d sound, sampling rate 8k, 8bit mode) in the option menu.
15. I am curious of the different options in the set up menu.

Setup :  the acceleration  rate according  to the user’s  3d card (Generally, it  is setting at Direct 3D HAL)

Resolution : (from window mode to the point that user’s monitor can support)

Sound’s setting : (off, 2d, 3d), the type of speaker, Sound beat, rate of sound.

Voodoo 3  option :  eliminates the booting to  window when the big polygon appears on the monitor

Lightmap option : Helps to read the map better on the older version of 3d card. Controls shadow, and light option.

16. How do you top-up your account for more game time?

1. If you already have a Ragnarok account, click on “My Ragna Account” on the Level Up! homepage. Enter your user name and password. You will be taken to your Ragnarok Account page.
2. Click on Top-Up, and type in your card and pin number to load/reload your account. To purchase Level Up! prepaid cards, click here for the dealer locator to find the nearest outlet. You will get a confirmation message and email upon successful top-up.
3. Top ups of any denomination between the period of August 15 to August 31 will be credited to your account on September 1, after which the value you topped up will determine how much time you have to play Ragnarok starting September 1.

P350 – 1 month unlimited

P100 – 7 days unlimited

P50 – 8 hours

4. Prepaid cards are already integrated so you could choose topping up for either Oz World or Ragnarok. Take note though that once you topped up to one game, you wouldn’t be able to use the gametime on the other game anymore.
17. I get an error “initd3d”, what do I do?

This error means that your video driver may not be updated, here are some links of common drivers so you can update them:

Downloading large files

Downloading files larger than 200 megabytes (MB) can take some time. To make sure you are downloading files most efficiently, follow the procedures on this page to increase the allotted disk space and empty your Temporary Internet Files and History folders.

To increase the allotted disk space in Microsoft Internet Explorer

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet files, click Settings.

3. Increase the amount of disk space to use by 300 MB.

To empty the Temporary Internet Files folder in Microsoft Internet Explorer

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files.

To empty the History folder in Microsoft Internet Explorer

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, under History, click Clear History.
