Ragnarok Online now introduces a new mercenary system which players can use to further enhance their gameplay experience in the world of Rune Midgard. Mercenaries will help fight monsters alongside the player who hired them and some mercenaries can even play a limited support role by using skills such as Magnificat or cures that can remove certain status effects. Mercenaries can be hired from one of the three different guilds that currently exist. You will pay zeny for a Mercenary Scroll which can summon a Mercenary for 30 minutes when used.

Mercenaries can be used in battling monsters and they can also be used in PVP and WoE, but they cannot be used to destroy the Emperium. Mercenaries also have an AI file which players can edit (similar to Homunculus for Alchemists) to customize their performance.
Spear Mercenary
  


The Spear Mercenary guild NPC is located in the upper left portion of Prontera city. Spear mercenaries have the highest amount of HP and physical defense of the three types.

They resemble Vit Spear Knights or Crusaders the most as some of them have skills like Spiral Pierce and Devotion.
